Police Now - A Decade of Transformation

Superintendent Katie Geal

Metropolitan Police Service

“POLICE NOW SHAPED THE KIND OF

LEADER I WANT TO BE – SOMEONE

WHO LEADS WITH COMPASSION,

PROFESSIONALISM, AND AUTHENTICITY”

Katie is one of the first officers trained by Police Now to reach superintendent rank. Under her

leadership, one of the Metropolitan Police Service’s frontline neighbourhood teams transformed

their approach to community policing.

“Police Now taught me that leadership isn’t about rank – it’s about mindset. The training focused on

values, public trust, and how to influence change, even in challenging environments. That really shaped

my thinking as I progressed.”

After joining through Police Now’s neighbourhood specialism, Katie quickly rose through the ranks.

She credits the programme with helping her develop the confidence and mindset to lead lasting change.

“My Police Now coach helped me find confidence in my own leadership style. The support didn’t stop

when the programme ended, Police Now helped me as I worked to secure a place on the Fast Track to

Inspector promotion programme. They helped me become the kind of leader who challenges things

that aren’t working and creates space for change.”

As a chief inspector she took on one of the biggest challenges of her career – leading a frontline

neighbourhood team that was facing significant challenges.

Katie introduced a data-driven performance framework, helping re-established high

professional standards and focused her team on building long-term relationships with

communities and partners. The results were clear: her team went from having one of

the lowest arrest rates in the force to one of the highest, and were invited to share their

approach across the wider Metropolitan Police Service.

“I’m so proud of my team. They worked hard to drive results. Not for numbers, but for

the people we serve.”
